The Google Challenge

This post is written in English mainly because I want Marydell and bookblog.net readers to be able to read it.
When i started bookblog.ro i believed (and i still do) that it will someday become the best book related website in Romania and it will help a lot of people (especially when it comes to choosing which books are worth reading and which are not). One month after bookblog.ro was launched i began to think how great it would be if the website would actually show up on google :)
Since then, bookblog has become more and more google friendly. I don't know as many things as i would like to, about search engine optimization but some great people helped me along the way. After bookblog.ro started to show up in searches, another target was set: I wanted bookblog.ro to rank first or second on Google, when searching for "bookblog". It already ranked first when searching through the Romanian websites. However, when searching through all the www sites, we had two big problems (and a few smaller ones :) ) : bookblog.com and bookblog.net. With bookblog.com it was easy. The site now rests on the fifth place in google. May it rest in peace!
With bookblog.net it wasn't going to be as easy. Because Marydell and the team there are doing a hell of a job. They are still the first on google but we are glad that we managed to make friends with our "enemy".

Vladut, sper ca ai cautat pe Google. Oricum, daca nu apare cum am spus eu in post cred ca e o problema de la tine. Eu am incercat pe 4 calculatoare diferite si pe toate aparem la fel.

Cu Firefox sinteti pe locul 5 la cautarea prin Google. Felicitari si cit mai multi vizitatori!

La mine cu keyword “bookblog” firefox arata locul 2 cand cauti pe WWW, de cateva saptamani bune.
Cand cauti in Romania, e locul 1
Si pe IE tot al doilea apare. Ma rog, nu conteaza chiar atat de mult. E doar o ambitie :)

Daca cauti cu google.ro e intr-adevar al doilea dupa bookblog.net:

dar daca cauti cu google.com (si in cazul in care te redirecteaza la .ro mergi pe “Google.com in English”) in momentul asta nu apare pe prima pagina (adica in primi 10):
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=bookblog&btnG=Google+Search
Insa asta nu prea conteaza din moment ce site-ul se adreseaza publicului roman.

E adevarat. Oricum, mie alti termeni de cautare mi se par importanti. Top 10 la “recenzii carti” sau “blog carti” e excelent!

Da. Intr-adevar sunt multi termeni mai importanti decat bookblog. Bookblog-ul este, cum am zis, o ambitie si nimic mai mult.

hm, eu am dat search dupa bookblog si bookblog.ro era undeva pe la 20-30… si la cautarea dupa book blog (separat) nici nu apare pe prima pagina.
